The Down and Connor Folk Group (DCF) has one main aim - to resource church music groups with new church music.

From our foundation 25 years ago our work has been for the most part in the diocese of Down and Connor in Ireland.

We are made up of people with a common purpose - a desire to sing and share music with others.

We are a voluntary, non-profit making, Christian organisation in the Catholic tradition and as a result we are committed to providing music that in the main addresses the requirements of the Church's liturgical year.

Our work focuses on "The Folk Weekend" which is our annual get-together with other church musicians and singers. Our aim is to teach new music so that parish Folk Groups will be able to bring back to their own churches new and exciting pieces to enhance their celebrations and help build parish community.

The music we teach comes from modern composers across the world and we also encourage local composition. However we often seek to express some of the more traditional church music in a more contemporary way.

Welcome to the website. We hope you find it useful and hope it will become another good resource for all of us to share ideas and expertise.
